The Mother Patricia Waldron Award honors a person "for faithful service in the spirit of mercy with compassionate dedication and devotion to the Waldron Mercy Academy community." Bill '84 and Annmarie Frio embody such faithful dedication and service.
Bill's passion for athletics and service came together in his dedication to WMA. Since 2008, the Golf and Tennis Classic committee has reaped the benefits of Bill's dedication, as he has been one of our most committed volunteers. While attending college at Villanova University, Bill coached the Waldron Mercy JV football team, winning championships two of four years, and the varsity basketball team, winning the championship one of two years. He returned to the coaching arena in 2008, while his son was in grade six, and of course, won the championship that year as well. He passed on his love for Waldron Mercy and coaching to his son Joey '11 who is now in college and comes back to coach football and baseball.
A long-time member of the Parent-Teacher Cooperative (now the Parents' Association), Ann Marie spent countless volunteer hours serving on committees and creating opportunities for other parents to become involved. Over her tenure, she served as Vice President, President, and Social Committee Chair, a role that allowed her to launch many events that we still enjoy, including Snack with Santa and fall hay rides. Annmarie was a familiar face that could always be seen volunteering at Homecoming, Winter Carnival, and Tigerfest, just to name a few. It is with deep appreciation for their dedication, service, generosity and loyalty that we honor Bill and Annmarie Frio with this award.
